Community Kitchen

Do you love to cook or bake? Do you have a fabulous party pleaser, a family favorite, a perfect snack, an heirloom delight, or a go-to recipe for any occasion that you would like to share with the community?

If so, submit the form at the end of this pageto participate in our Community Kitchen program. The goal of this program is to bring people to the library who are willing to share their recipes, skills, and culinary tips-and-tricks with others through library-hosted demonstrations.

Because of COVID restrictions, we are currently evaluating how to run this program safely. In the meantime, we are still accepting submissions for interest.

What to know

The library will purchase the ingredients for the program.

Recipes are encouraged to be less than 30 minutes for ingredient preparation, and less than 90 minutes total cook time.

A staff member will cohost the program with you, and ask you questions about your recipe and process throughout the demonstration.

These demonstrations are meant to be recorded as part of our In the Kitchen program. To see our current episodes visit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BKzYUrsgbg&list=PLgsFh01Nj118nMI-tU1iym...

More about our Kitchen

The West Linn Public Library has a mobile kitchen cart that allows the library to provide culinary programs in any part of the library and in the community. The cart is equipped with two induction burners, 12" x 12" x 9" Hamilton Beach oven, mini fridge, and a small sink.* The library has access to a detached induction burner, small stand mixer, and Techwood Smokeless Grill for our kitchen. The library also has access to an air fryer, Instant Pot 6QT, and vacuum sealer through our Library of Things collection. Special equipment requests will be assessed on a case-by-case basis if you are unable to provide your own equipment.

Induction burners are great for our little kitchen, but it does come with some limitations. Copper, aluminum, and glass cookware will not work on induction burners. Metal based cookware, such as stainless steel, cast iron, or ceramic glazed cookware are compatible with induction burners.

* Please note, we do not have access to a standard oven in the library, so please adapt your recipe accordingly.
