Read Local Author Fair Application
The application will be open November 1- December 2, 2024.
West Linn Public Library will host a Read Local Author Fair on Saturday, March 1st from 12-2 PM. This free event serves to provide a platform for local writers to showcase their work, connect with interested readers, and network with other area authors. It is also an exciting event for readers to explore new authors, talk with them, learn about the writing process, and peruse their books ‐ and have books signed, as well! Applications for this program will be accepted starting November 1, 2024.
There are no fees associated with participating in this event.
How are authors selected?
Participation in the Read Local Author Fair is by application only. Based on the number of applications received, it may be necessary to limit participation. West Linn Public Library reserves the right to accept or refuse any applicant at its discretion.
Priority is given to authors who reside within Clackamas County. As space permits, authors from Multnomah County and Washington County will be considered. All applicants must live in Oregon at the time of application. Additional criteria such as publication quality, local interest, and artistic merit will also be considered. Authors must be edited and published, manuscripts will not be accepted. E‐book authors who do not have a printed copy of their book to sell are not eligible. Promotional material will not be considered in the selection process and will be discarded. If your book was professionally reviewed, please list that in the appropriate section.
In the application, we ask for only three (3) of your book titles and descriptions. You do not need to have three books to be considered for this event. If you have more than three books, please limit it to the three (3) for the sample. You are welcome to sell your additional books at the fair, although you are still limited to a single table.
Authors will be notified of their acceptance by December 20th, 2024.
How will this event be promoted?
We will advertise the fair via the library’s social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram), on the West Linn Public Library website, through in-house marketing materials (flyers, posters, signs, eDisplay), using traditional media sources (i.e. newspapers, City of West Linn "West Linn Wednesday" Newsletter). Authors are also strongly encouraged to promote the author fair through any networks or media outlets available to them. We are just as dependent on you to make this program a success.
