Calling all beginning readers! (Grades K-5)
Come practice reading to one of our registered therapy dogs. Kids sign up for 20-minute sessions to read to a dog downstairs at the library. Each child chooses a book and how much reading and petting to do. Reading to the dogs increases enthusiasm for reading, develops reading skills, teaches children how to interact with pets and promotes confidence. Our dog handlers encourage interaction with their dogs and will offer help if needed. All dogs and handlers are registered therapy teams.
Registration is required and opens three weeks in advance of the sessions. If no sessions are available, be sure to check back soon! Please register each reader only one time per month. Register here.
