Status Updates

10/24/24- Final bike path paving near Brandon Place and at Epperly completed. 

10/7/24- Pavers are being laid along buffer strip between sidewalk and curb. ADA ramps at Epperly are being formed. 

9/25/24- Final paving expected 9/26-27. Following paving completion, work will be predominately out of the roadway and will consist of installing pavers, landscaping, and site restoration.  

9/18/24- Bike path paving taking place throughout the end of the week.

8/26/24- Sidewalks along Willamette Falls Drive are not complete. Students walking to school should utilize the same routes as last school year. 

Both lanes of Willamette Falls Drive will be open to vehicular traffic during student arrival and dismissal to facilitate traffic flow.

Signs reading 20 minute delays for construction will not apply during student arrival and dismissal.

The path entry to Fields Bridge Park near Epperly Way is currently closed.

8/13/24- Crews are preparing the north lane of WFD for base paving. Paving is expected to take place on 8/16.

8/08/24- South lane base paving on WFD

7/23/24- The curb machine has poured curbs along the south side of WFD.

7/15/24- Crews are cutting back existing asphalt along the east-bound lane to begin work on curb. Motorist will be driving partially on gravel during this work. 

6/3/24- Crews installing storm water catch basin runs to storm mains. Crews are also working on drainage for the soil nail wall.

5/9/24- Soil nail wall installation progressing along northeast side of the park.

4/4/24- The western parking lot at Fields Bridge Park is now open for park users. The eastern parking lot is now closed and will be used for material staging. 

3/15/24- Work on WFD improvements to shift to the east. The work at the roundabout at the end of Fields Bridge will be wrapping up in the coming weeks.  The next stage of construction on Willamette Falls Drive, at Fields Bridge Park, will be underway. The western parking lot will open and the eastern parking lot will close. 

Some specific points to note about access to the park:

  • The baseball fields and community gardens will continue to be accessible open to the public.
  • Overflow parking for baseball and other park events will be available in the lower lot of the New Athey Creek Middle School. (Subject to any concurrent school events)
  • A drop off zone will be accessible at the West Entry to the park near the community garden area.
  • There is no parking or drop off at the East entry near the baseball fields.
  • Pedestrians will be guided via signage to allow continued access to the park from the crosswalk/path on Willamette Falls Drive near Epperly way.
  • Signage will be installed to direct pedestrians from the school parking lot, under the bridge, and to the park.  There will be NO pedestrian crossing allowed on Willamette Falls Drive.
  • There will be sections of pedestrian pathway (within the park) that are closed and NO access will be allowed in these areas until construction is complete.
  • There is NO parking available on Willamette Falls Drive.  This construction zone will be clearly marked NO Parking until completion of the project at the end of the summer.

12/14/23- The contractor will remove the asphalt on the westbound lane of Willamette Falls Drive 12/14-15. This lane will consist of compacted gravel as crews prepare for asphalt paving 12/18-19 (weather dependent).

10/19/23- Construction crews will begin mobilizing to start work on the roundabout on 10/23. Work this Fall will focus on the roundabout with remaining improvements to Willamette Falls Drive being finished in the Spring of 2024. 

7/31/23- Brandon Place trail access paved.

6/16/23- Brandon Place top lift paving. 

5/5/23- Start of exploratory boring for Willamette Falls Drive Improvements. Boring to take place between the East entry to the park and the crosswalk near Epperly Way and one bore on Willamette Falls Drive. Please follow all flagger instructions.  

4/18/23- Temporary contractor parking along Dollar to allow for completion of on-site parking lots.

4/13-14/23- Dollar Street paving.

2/28/2023- Excavation and framing for curbs at the Brandon Place and Dollar St. intersection will begin on 3/3/23 with the expectation to pour concrete on 3/6/23. Traffic control will be in place and be sure to follow all signage and flagger instructions. 

2/21/2023- Crews installed erosion control prevention measures to south side of site.

2/15/2023- Preparation has begun for Dollar Street sidewalk improvements.

1/23/2023 - Work on water line under Brandon Place extension. 

1/17/2023 - Fire suppression and potable water vaults installed.

12/8/2022- Dollar Street base-lift paving completed.

10/31/2022 Dollar Street paving to begin pending clear weather. Large deliveries of wall pieces beginning on 10/31 and continuing through the end of the week.

9/15/2022 - Work on Willamette Falls Drive on hold pending flood plain permit approval. Work on Dollar Street utility improvements continues and is expected to be finished by early December.  

8/15/2022 - Dollar Street improvements scheduled to begin

7/11/2022 - IGA approved by City Council

6/21/2022 - IGA with School Disctrict for offsite improvements scheduled for City Council approval

5/31/2022- offsite improvement plans approved

5/3/2022 - 100% offsite improvement plans expected 5/11

4/27/2022 - City and School District Design team met to review design for WFD and Dollar offsite improvements.

2/22/2022 - City issued a 1200-C erosion control permit.

2/18/2022 - Onsite construction has began.

1/25/2022 - Public Improvement permit and off-site plans have been submitted and are under review. 

1/3/2022 - DEQ 1200c erosion control permit issued to the School District.
