City of West Linn to Hold Special Meeting to Appoint New City Manager
WEST LINN, OR – August 5, 2020 – On August 10, 2020, at 2:00 PM, the West Linn City Council will hold a Special Meeting to publicly vote on awarding Jerry Gabrielatos an employment contract for the City Manager position.
The City Council began its search for the next City Manager in April this year, after publicly seeking citizen input into the City Manager Profile and adopting the criteria for the position. The job posting received 63 applications and after review City Council invited 13 candidates to a virtual interview in May. The Council further narrowed their search to six candidates for a second virtual interview with the Council, and on June 30th, three finalists were selected to participate in a virtual interview with 45 citizens and staff providing input to the Council. In July, the Council released one candidate from consideration, and met in person with Interim City Manager John Williams and Jerry Gabrielatos from Albert Lea, Minnesota.
Jerry Gabrielatos has been the Assistant City Manager in Albert Lea, Minnesota since 2015. During his time there, he led on issues related to economic and workforce development, sustainability and resilience, diversity and inclusion, and community engagement. Prior to moving to Minnesota, he worked in various capacities, including Chief of Staff for members of the Chicago City Council. He holds a master's degree in Public Policy and Administration from Northwestern University and a bachelor's degree from Tulane University, where he studied Political Science and History.
A draft employment agreement is available with the August 10 Agenda notice on the City website. No final decision can be made about the City Manager appointment without a public vote by the City Council.
