West Linn Post Office Signs Lease Extension
WEST LINN, OR – April 9, 2019 – The City of West Linn is excited to announce the West Linn Post Office and Gramor Development, property developer and building owner, have reached an agreement to extend the West Linn Post Office lease for six months.
“We’re glad to hear that the West Linn Post Office has signed another six-month lease extension” said John Williams, Deputy City Manager/Community Development Director, “this will hopefully provide enough time for the Post Office to identify a permanent location for their operations. The City will continue to assist however we can, as the Post Office is an important part of our community. We’re hopeful that a solution can be found.”
"The Post Office is an important anchor of our community and our Central Village shopping center,” stated West Linn City Mayor Russ Axelrod, “I want to thank everyone that helped extend the lease for six months, and to assure our residents that the City is focused on doing what we can to establish a longer term solution for the future."
The City of West Linn is committed to helping the Post Office remain in our community and have been in contact with United States Postal Service staff, building owners, and our federal legislative representatives to work on solutions. Decisions regarding post office facilities are made by the Federal Government, and sites are privately owned, but the City will remain part of the conversation. Finding a new location has been difficult due to the limited number of sites currently available in West Linn and the Post Office's specific needs, but a study is underway to determine a more permanent alternate location. The new lease will extend to October 20, 2019 and business will continue as usual without any impact to the community.
